ActZero Noji Film

예술과 행동, 물리적 세계와 디지털 세계, 인간과 기계 간 선순환을 구축하려는 방앤리의 ‘액트제로(ActZero)’ 프로젝트는 기후변화 대응을 위한 캠페인의 제0막(Act 0)이자 탄소 중립(Net-Zero) 기후행동을 뜻합니다. ‘액트제로 노지(ActZero Noji)’는 그 첫 번째 프로젝트로 제주 서귀포 바다와 연결된 노지(露地)에서 진행된 설치 작품이자 영상 작업입니다. 노지는 벽과 지붕이 없는 곳을 뜻하며, 아직 훼손되지 않은 자연 그대로의 모습이 남아 있는 곳입니다. 기후 변화에 민감하고 해수면 상승과 해양 생태계 오염에 노출된 상징적 장소인 노지에서 지속 가능한 재료, 친환경 에너지, 지역의 생태문화, 그리고 궁극적으로 자연으로의 회귀에 초점을 둔 일련의 창의적인 탄소중립 예술 활동과 실천의 서막을 알립니다. 노지의 바닷속으로 사라지는 세라믹 3D 프린팅 설치 작품과 그 과정을 기록한 영상 작업은 지구온난화와 기후위기에 대한 작가의 관점과 탐구 과정을 담고 있습니다. 기술, 환경, 디지털 예술이 융합한 행위와 실천을 바탕으로 미래세대뿐 아니라 전 세대를 위해 기후변화 대응을 촉구하며, 과정의 기록으로써 이 프로세스 아트는 위기의 시대, 기후비상사태를 상징적이고 시적인 표현으로 전달합니다.

ActZero – a concept formed by South Korean artist duo Bang & Lee, which aims to build a virtuous cycle between art and action, the physical and the digital world, and human and machine, refers to Act 0(A Prelude) and net-zero to act together with them to achieve net-zero in their daily lives. ActZero Noji is the first project and is an installation artwork and film, conducted on the open field connected to the Seogwipo Sea in Jeju. Noji refers to the bare ground with untouched nature on Jeju Island, a location that has already seen a sea-level rise and changes in the marine ecosystem caused by climate change. Bang & Lee undertook a series of creative net-zero acts in Noji, focussed on sustainable materials, renewable energy, local biodiversity, and ultimately a return to nature. The ceramic 3D printing installation that disappears into the sea and the film that recorded the entire process contain the artists’ concerns and perspectives on global warming and climate crisis. Taking actions and practices that combine technology, environment, and digital art, ActZero urges the response to climate change. Not only for future generations but also for all generations, as a record of the process, this process art delivers the message in the era of crisis and climate emergency in symbolic and poetic expressions.
